Axis Homes was founded by Harry Friend, a graduate architect and licensed builder. Instead of a designer, a draftsperson, a consultant and a builder who have never met, one integrated team handles design, approvals and construction.

Design and construction are aligned from the first conversation, so the plans you fall in love with are the plans that get built, at the price you were quoted.

How much does it cost to build with Axis?
Costs depend on the site as much as the house. As a guide, a three-bedroom home on a straightforward site starts from around $450,000, covering approvals and construction in Tasmania. Slope, access, bushfire and services affect the cost, which is why we assess your site before quoting rather than after. At concept stage we align budget and design, so you have real numbers before you commit to approvals.
How long does the process take?
The timeframe varies with site conditions, design complexity and approvals. As a guide, allow around nine months for approvals and a further nine months for construction.
What size projects do you take on?
Most of our homes fall between $700,000 and $1,200,000. We have delivered projects in excess of this and are set up to go beyond that where the site and brief warrant it. The process does not change at either end of the scale. The difference is scope, not the level of attention.
My block is sloping, bushy or hard to get to. Is that a problem?
Not a problem, but it is a cost factor. Slope, access, bushfire rating and services all affect the price, which is why the second stage of our process is a site analysis. We meet on site, assess the opportunities and challenges, and quote from what is actually there rather than from an assumption.
